Finding out your loved one is expecting a baby is thrilling, to say the least. And though coming up with creative ways to make the big announcement is fun, the best part is watching your family's faces when they finally realize what's going on! In the hilarious and heartwarming video below, dad-to-be Michael Krauter captured the moment when he and his wife revealed the happy news to his wife's parents--and his mother-in-law's reaction is so over-the-top, it'll make you laugh out loud.Continue Reading >
A 22-year-old Ohio mother is suing an abortion clinic after doctors there performed a procedure that allegedly failed to terminate her pregnancy.
Medics reportedly told Ariel Knights that she suffered from a condition that could put her life at serious risk should she go ahead with the pregnancy. After agonizing over the decision, Knights--who was engaged and already had a son in preschool--decided to have an abortion. She had the procedure at Akron Women's Medical Group in March 2012 and was given the all-clear by the doctor. But days later, she became ill and had to go to the hospital. When the doctor ran an ultrasound on her, Knights was shocked to learn that she was still pregnant! Oh my god, can you imagine?!Continue Reading >
Telling your family that you're expecting is so exciting, especially if your loved ones have been not-so-patiently pushing for babies for a long time. Kim Kardashian really made it a point to fire back at critics this morning on Live with Kelly & Michael, saying she's nowhere near 200 pounds, despite what reports have claimed. Ever since the news of Kim's pregnancy broke, the reality star has been under some serious scrutiny, especially when it comes down to her weight. And the fact that she's been struggling to dress her new shape has been all too evident in the confusing maternity wear she's been sporting lately. But even so, I think the real problem here isn't Kim's weight, style, or "pregnancy food cravings." It's more like she needs to take a break and just relax about EVERYTHING!Continue Reading >
This must see picture of a baby delivered via C-section with its amniotic sac still in tact has my head reeling. I look, but then I have to look away, but then I have to look again. Giving birth is an awe-inspiring event in and of itself, but what if you gave birth to a baby that was still in its amniotic sac? A baby born its amniotic sac (aka veiled birth) is a very rare occurrence, It's quite a phenomenal event and it's not every day that you get a chance to see something like it.
This picture, shared on the SaludMedica.com Facebook page really caught my eye. I have never in my life seen anything like it and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it. It looks unreal. I know it is a beautiful and blessed event and some even see these kinds of births--or caul births, named for the remnant of the amniotic membrane the baby is born in--as a sign of good luck or an omen that the child is destined for greatness.
A mom in England got the surprise of her LIFE when she recently saw a face appear on her pregnant belly! Karen McMartin was at work and showing off her bump to her coworkers when her boss suddenly realized a shape had started to emerge from the pregnant woman's bellybutton that looked exactly like the face of a baby. Talk about crazy!
The 25-year-old mom, who has a 2-year-old daughter already, was shocked--and needless to say her coworkers at the salon where she makes her living were too! So was I when I saw that face peeking out from beneath the pregnant woman's skin--anyone remeber the terrifying film Aliens? Cause I do, and I don't know about you, but I was a little freaked out.Continue Reading >
Shaming and ridiculing teens is definitely NOT the correct way to prevent teenage pregnancies--which is why I think New York City's newest campaign to prevent adolescents from becoming parents is horrible and terribly misguided.
The U.S. is one of the few developed countries with a very high rate of teenage pregnancies, something which I've never really understood. We're living in a pretty modern country where, despite the fact that poverty and lack of education do exist, we're so much better off than many other places in the world. Rampant teen pregnancies is why I've always maintained that it's extremely important to speak clearly and openly to teens regarding how to prevent pregnancy, but also about their options once they do become pregnant.Continue Reading >
When a woman becomes pregnant, everyone around her tries to guess the baby's gender. So when I heard that there ARE ways to determine the gender of an unborn baby (without actual lab tests), I was floored.
That exactly what Jena Pincott claims to have found out in her new book, Do Chocolate Lovers Have Sweeter Babies? She takes down those old wives tales a notch and actually shares some super interesting info on how to tell if you should be shopping for pink or blue.

Good parenting requires being involved in your kid's lives, even if that sometimes means making them do what they don't want to do…but how far is too far? That's the question at the center of the lawsuit a 16-year-old recently filed against her parents after they reportedly tried to force her to have an abortion.Continue Reading >
I thank God every day for the advances we've made in technology and genetics. Thanks to Cochlear Implants, my son who is profoundly deaf, "hears" and speaks like any other teen. In fact, you wouldn't even be able to tell that he's deaf! Shortly after his diagnosis, we had him tested to identify whether his hearing loss was genetic. We were told that if they could identify the specific gene that caused it, we could find out whether he'd be only deaf or whether he would also have issues with his eyes, heart or kidneys.Continue Reading >
