Most women say they would feel incomplete without having children, but it turns out childless men actually suffer depresseion at way higher rates than women! A new study found that found that men are more likely to feel isolated, depressed, angry, and sadder than women if they don't have kids. This challenges the idea that women are more likely to want children than men and the effects it has on them.

So it looks like First Lady Michelle Obama feels like a "single mom" even though she's married to one of the most powerful men in the world. Or, at least, that's what she told a reporter for a Vermont CBS affiliate station during an interview Thursday about the difficulties of serving healthy meals to your family when juggling work, kids, etc.
"Believe me, as a busy single mother..." the First Lady said before quickly correcting herself. "Or, I shouldn't say single, as a busy mother. Sometimes, you know, when you've got a husband who is president, it can feel a little single. But he's there."
I don't know the answer to that question and I hope my kids never have to find out. My parents got divorced by the time I'd been out of the house for at least five years. I can't imagine my life without my father because even he spent most of his working hours working, the rest of the time he was always with us, his family. My husband and I don't have the perfect relationship, but we try to give our kids everything our parents gave us and more--in terms of love and time.
To say it's better to be raised by a single mom than by both parents it's ludicrous because it totally depends on the people involved and the details of the situation. However, I will admit that I have no idea how single moms manage to raise successful and well-mannered kids on their own. Most days, I feel like I can't do it and I'm anything but alone in this venture.

I can't imagine anyone being so heartless as to disown their child for their sexual orientation, but the truth of the matter is that this kind of thing happens every single day.
It absolutely breaks my heart that a man has just shared his dad's absolutely horrible letter, disowning his own child because he's a homosexual, on web forum Reddit. The letter, in which the dad tells the son to not "expect any further conversations with me," is one of the most cruel things I have ever read. Seriously, how can anybody be so heartless to their own child? This is something that I will NEVER understand.
I think it's pretty safe to say that I am a huge fan of theater. I mean, I spent a Sunday night in June watching the Tony Awards (the Oscars of the theater world) because I was dying to see Ricky Martin's performance for Evita. Actually, I'm a big supporter of anyone who wants to get on the stage, which is exactly why I was so inspired to read the story of single mom Jennifer Sanchez, an actress/singer who's currently appearing in Ghost the Musical after her Broadway debut in West Side Story in 2009.
I've always wondered how single moms do it--especially those who have somehow managed to raise successful and emotionally stable children without a partner's physical, mental and financial support. Although that's not the norm for most single moms, the reality is that they are out there because I know at least three, with one of them being my own aunt.
My mom's eldest sister was not only able to successfully raise her two children, now a grown man and woman, by herself, but she did so far away from her homeland and her family.

A un amigo mío, recientemente se le inundó su departamento y se le destrozó todo, pero su mejor amigo -que es gay-, le ofreció que viviera un mes en su casa. En un principio él aceptó, pero después cambió de opinión y el otro día me contó "el porqué" y me puse furiosa con él.
Resulta que este amigo mío divorciado, que comparte la custodia de los hijos con la esposa, tenía miedo de que sus hijos notaran la vida "gay" de su amigo, cuando pasaran el fin de semana, en su casa.
Estamos hablando de un tipo educado, preparado, moderno y liberal, con lo cual no pude evitar decirle. ¿Pero de qué demonios estás hablando?, ¿ahora eres homofóbico?

I love being a mother, I swear I do, people get confused by my frustrated-Mom posts sometimes, my Mom calls worried from time to time saying things like,"Your blog makes me stressed, are you sure you are Ok?"
I always like, "¡Ay Mama! Come on--it's me!" But, she's just being a mom.
Well, here's another declaration that might make people edgy: I hate Mother's Day.
We live in a world full of blended families. I know more people who grew up with stepparents than those who didn't and with divorce rates as high as they've ever been, I know this trend will continue in generations to come. Unfortunately, for many stepmoms Mother's Day can be a tough day. While many of them devote themselves to their stepchildren, come Mother's Day, they're not really recognized by them, their husbands or anybody else, for that matter. This can be particularly difficult for stepmoms who don't have children of their own.
On the other hand, I can only imagine how tough it must be for a stepchild, especially the younger ones, to figure out what to do on Mother's Day. Does celebrating your stepmom on Mother's Day mean your being disloyal to your own mother? Argh! One more reason why I don't like Mother's Day!

¡Ay! I don't know if it is because I am quite nostalgic knowing that another year will pass and I will not be able to be with my 'mami linda' celebrating her great day. But the case is that I almost cry with Manolo's tribute to her famous mom, Sofía Vergara, as part of the series 'Mi vida con Toty' (My life with Toty) from the NuevOn channel in Youtube. Although often, the young director, has made us laugh with anecdotes of his mother, this time he left me with my feelings "a flor de piel," after he shared the best moments he has lived next to Sofía and the reasons why he is deeply grateful of her.
