Curly Q: I have pretty dry curls, but an oily scalp. I find myself having to shampoo frequently to avoid greasy roots, only for it to dry out the rest of my hair. How can I treat both issues and find a healthy balance? Help!

Curly Q: My hair is naturally curly, but I really like to wear it straight from time to time. How can I prevent heat styling from damaging my curls?
I'll admit, even though I was born with a head full of curly hair, I have my days (sometimes even months) where I'd just rather wear it straight. Most non-curlies don't get it, but the truth is sometimes I just want a change. You know, like a non-permanent change that requires a little less primping and maintenance in the morning.
And hey, just like straight-haired chicas like to pull out the curling iron every here and there, we like to occasionally blow-out or flat-iron our tresses. But I must warn you ladies, if not done correctly, with time you can wind up with some serious heat damage that can totally ruin your curl pattern. Believe me, I've been there!Continue Reading >

There are definitely ways to save your strand sanity without having to chop it all off and start from scratch.Continue Reading >

Being a curly haired chica, I definitely know how it feels to struggle with dryness. When it comes to getting healthy curls, hydration is always key. But the truth is not all conditioners leave my curls moisturized, bouncy, and defined. In fact, a lot of them leave them smooth but weighed down.
So I decided to try out some conditioning treatments that are especially designed for curly tresses. I tested out two sulfate-free conditioners (because they say sulfate wreaks havoc on curls): L'Oréal Paris EverCurl Hydracharge Conditioner ($8) against DevaCare One Conditioner ($19).
