In absolutely heartbreaking news, the 3-year-old granddaughter of Kentucky State Rep. Terry Mills died last week from suffocation after hiding in a bean bag chair during a game of hide-and-seek.
Mia Kylee Mills Simmerman was home with her father on Wednesday afternoon, when she reportedly went missing at around 3 p.m. After police and firefighters were called, the authorities and family members embarked on a search of the home.
That's when the little girl was found unresponsive inside a bean bag chair in her bedroom.
Though she was rushed to a local hospital, medics were unable to revive her. Simmerman's loved ones believe the toddler was playing and attempting to conceal herself in a good hiding spot when the tragedy occurred.

I am so saddened by this story and for Simmerman's family, particularly, her parents. There are no words to describe such a horrible loss and I can't even imagine what they must be going through. It's especially difficult hearing about incidents like this, knowing that accidents like this can happen so quickly and at any time.
The tragedy is a devastating reminder to all parents to be extra cautious about the items they keep in their house (bean bag chair have long since been a safety concern for young children) and to always be hyperaware of their kid's activities, even in their own home.
