I've never been so glad to not have cable anymore than I was this morning, when I read that DirectTV and Viacom are in SUCH a huge disagreement over god-knows-what right now that the cable giant has currently lost access to the media company for 20 million customers.
This includes channels like Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon—which every parent will know as "the channel that Sponge Bob lives on." Well, if you're one of the affected people (and even if you're not), there ARE a few things you can do with the kids that doesn't include the big black box in the living room. Here are some fun activities for the whole family, sans cable TV.

Teach Your Kids to Cook
Now, maybe it's because I love cooking, but I think having a fun cooking session with the kids is one of the best things you can do. You can have them help you with dinner or learn how to make a new dessert together--and enjoy the rewards in the end!
