Want to know the secret to a successful your marriage? Well, some people believe that fighting and masturbation are the keys to a great union (yes, seriously) but now it turns out that what you REALLY need to be a good partner to your man is more time in the bedroom--and I mean more time spent sleeping! That's right. Maybe you would have guessed that a spicier sex life is actually the way to a happy union (at least, that's what my assumption was!) but it's actually getting more ZzzZzz's that makes you a good mate.

According to Jezebel.com, it turns out that the whole "waking up on the wrong side of the bed" issue really has to do more with lack of sleep than anything else. It's not that you woke up incorrectly, but rather that you woke up TOO SOON for your body. And what does that mean? Well, for one, a new study is reporting that having a poor quality sleep tends to make us "prioritize ourselves over our partners and let the important little things slide." UC Berkeley psychologist and lead investigator of the study, Amie Gordon, explains:
Poor sleep may make us more selfish as we prioritize our own needs over our partner's. You may have slept like a baby, but if your partner didn't, you'll probably both end up grouchy.

So, basically, not sleeping enough makes us into jerks who don't seem to care about anyone else. I can definitely see how getting a little extra shuteye (perhaps both for you AND your hubby) is going to lead to a better marriage. What's that mean for tonight, ladies? Well, I for one am DEFINITELY going to make sure to get a good night's sleep! And, of course, make sure my man gets his 8 hours of snoozing, too.
