My father used to say there is nothing new under the sun, but seriously, I don't think I've ever seen or thought about a "spa" for vaginas. As in, a magical place where your beautiful, delicate flower can be renewed and rejuvenated. What do you think of THAT?!
Well, according to the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, esthetic treatments of the genital area saw more growth than any other cosmetic treatment in 2011, thanks in part to the attention brought to these procedures by celebs. in fact, they have become so popular that they have their own genre now: Gyno Aesthetics.

The most interesting fact is that the majority of patients who get consultations about these gyno aesthetic procedures are not older women, but young women that think they need to, um, tighten up down there after giving birth. The median age of these patients is between 25 and 40 years old. The list of procedures included under gyno aesthetics umbrella is vast, and includes everything from very non-invasive treatments to full-blown vaginal reconstructive surgeries. The simplest ones are:
- Hyaluronic acid G-spot augmentation: This one creates more pleasure during intercourse. Hyaluronic acid, the substance used to "amplify" the G spot is the same one that is used in facial treatments to plump up the skin and fill in cheek bones.
- Hyaluronic acid labial injections: Also plumps up the vaginal lips. You know, in case you feel that "plumpness" has also gone away.
- Platelet-rich injections for vaginal dryness: This is one of the newer treatments. The plasma is obtained from the patient's own blood, which is filtered to increase its concentration of platelets. Applied to the vaginal walls, it stimulates the secretion of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin, which in turn improves lubrication of the vagina and prevents pain during intercourse.

Specialists often stress that when the treatment doesn't include major surgery, patients return to their normal activities the same day as the procedure, and the best part is no one needs to know about your little "improvement". Well, I'm sure your husband will notice!
Since I had my kids via C-section, I haven't had any of these problems, which makes me feel lucky in a way. But, to be quite honest, I'm not sure I'd be cool with getting injections... down there. Just thinking about it makes me cringe!
