The 7 worst pregnancy symptoms you can experience

Poor Kim Kardashian. I don't mean that sarcastically at all, I actually feel really bad for her. It's hard enough being pregnant when you're not under the spotlight--every pregnant woman is scrutinized, judged, and critiqued at some point--"She's gaining too much weight", "She's gaining too little weight", "I can't believe she's wearing heels", "OMG did she just eat fish?"--it gets old real fast. I can't imagine having the entire world watching, and this woman has been ridiculed for everything from traveling too much to wearing the wrong dress. And now, I've seen a picture of her sad edema-ridden legs and swollen tootsies squeezed into a pair of clear, plastic heels, and I can't help but cringe.

4 Signs of impending labor that you might not notice

When I gave birth to my son a week early it was completely surreal. I mean, pregnancy and labor and delivery are probably always on the surreal side, but I was almost in shock that it had actually happened. Throughout most of my pregnancy, I had a feeling that my baby was going to arrive early, but my strategy for dealing with the fear of labor and delivery was simply to pretend that it wasn't going to happen. During the week before I delivered I might have been intentionally oblivious to some degree, but there were also a few signs that labor was soon to come that I just didn't think twice about. Now keep in mind that these things can mean absolutely nothing for some women, but they could very well be cues that your baby's birth is not far off. Leaving the umbilical cord attached after birth is trendy, but is it right for you?

A new trend is emerging among mothers called "Lotus Births." Lotus Births refers to allowing the umbilical cord detach from the baby naturally, instead of the standard procedure of almost immediately clamping and severing the cord.

It can take up to 10 days (TEN DAYS!) for the umbilical cord to fall off. Of course, until that happens, the mother must carry the infant everywhere since they are physically bound to each other until it detaches. Although some might find this method a bit uncomfortable--or even sort of crazy--Mary Ceallaigh, a midwife and Lotus Birth advocate, say that it can be good for the baby and mother's health.
