They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this particular picture of newborn twins from Spain holding hands is worth all that and a thousand sighs. These babies, who can't even see each other yet, somehow know how to find each other and hold hands through the first moments of their lives.

It appears that a truck hauling a load that was too tall on Interstate 5 bridge near Mount Vernon in Washington hit an overhead girder, which caused the collapse of the bridge. The truck and driver made it safely off the bridge and stayed to cooperate with investigators. As the bridge collapsed, two other vehicles plunged into the chilly waters of the Skagit River below. One of the vehicles had a man and wife in it and the other vehicle had a man driving alone. Guess what? All three of them miraculously survived the collapse of the bridge and scary plunge into the water.

Shayla Taylor was in active labor on one of the upper floors of Moore Medical Center on Monday when the tornado with winds that were over 200 miles per hour touched down. The young mother was dilated to 9 centimeters with her second child. She was just about ready to give birth when she was given a quick shot to delay labor. The hospital suffered a direct hit. The Florida homeless man who had most of his face chewed off by an insane attacker last Memorial Day weekend seems to be doing okay. It's been about a year since the bizarre incident took place and even though Ronald Poppo is blind, 50 pounds heavier, and missing half his face, he refuses to allow that horrifying experience to traumatize his life. In fact, he's been happier than ever, relearning the guitar and trying his best to enjoy life. Isn't this so amazing!

As a mother watching the coverage of the Oklahoma tornado, knowing that schools were damaged and children hurt, my heart aches and I can't help but sob. It's not just the sad stories that make me cry, it's also the good stories that have me bursting into uncontrollable tears. Watching the video of Trenda Purcell being reunited with her 8-year-old son Kamden, whose school Briarwood Elementary was hit by the tornado, has made me an emotional mess.

It is difficult to see the images of devastation caused by the tornado that has ravaged Oklahoma. Knowing that there has been so much loss of life is devastating. It is during these moments of crisis that relief organizations step in and help the survivors, but they can't do it without our help. I can't help but being touched by a military homecoming. Watching loved ones embrace after not having seen each other for who knows how long always makes a lump rise in my throat. Misty Scaffer's husband, Army Specialist Larry Shaffer, had been deployed in Afghanistan for 12 months. The couple from North Carolina have a 3-year-old daughter named Nevaeh who had grown much since her father had seen her. As touching as seeing how much his daughter had grown during the time he was gone, Larry Shaffer was even more surprised by how much his wife had shrunk in the same amount of time.
