Here in the States, we were going crazy over the Powerball jackpot in November, but ours looks like child's play money compared to Spain's! Spain holds the "El Niño" lottery every Feast of the Epiphany--also known as Three Kings Day--and this year the prize was HUGE. HUGE as in: the El Niño  went for 840 million Euros--that's $1.1 BILLION dollars! Yep, that's a "B" not an "M"!

The jackpot was created in honor of baby Jesus (El Niño Jesus) who was visited by the three kings and given gifts.

Happy birthday to the one of the most inspiring Latinas in the world, Sonia Sotomayor! The Puerto Rican Supreme Court justice is turning 54 today and with all of the amazing accomplishments she's made throughout her wildly successful career, she has plenty of reasons to celebrate.

Ayer leí una nota que me hizo cuestionarme un par de cosas acerca de la ley del aborto, algo que hace mucho no me sucedía.

Quiero aclarar que soy una mujer absolutamente PRO-CHOICE, pero eso no quiere decir, que no considere que el  aborto sea una cosa fea. Y la realidad es que en esta vida, siempre hay excepciones y estoy consciente de que muchas mujeres toman dicha "alternativa de terminación", porque tienen sus razones y sean cuáles sean, hay que respetarlas.

Pero hay también sin duda, mujeres que han tomado al aborto, como una alternativa a su descuido. Una medida casi como la "morning after pill", y en esto si que no estoy de acuerdo.

¿¡Pero qué rayos está pasando con los niños de ahora!? Mientras a los 12 años, yo jugaba en el recreo, con mis compañeritas de la escuela cosas tan infantiles, como concursos de baile y pasarelas de moda; más de diez años después, los niños a esa misma edad, aprovechan sus recesos en la escuela ¡para grabarse teniendo relaciones sexuales! Lo veo y no lo creo, ¿¡qué rayos está pasando con estas nuevas generaciones!? Me gustaría saber, de dónde es que estos infantes -que ni siquiera cumplen la mayoría de edad- sacan ideas tan perversas como ésta.

That's why Army Master Sergeant Mike Martinez decided to share his story in the USO's first Invisible Wounds public service announcement.

The PSA was made to raise awareness about the post-traumatic stress disorder and damaging brain injuries that many of the troops returning home now face. But Martinez is placing a special focus on Latino soldiers whose culture, he believes, associates mental illness with weakness.
