The family of Jenni Rivera is outraged that a gruesome video showing what appears to be her remains has been circulating the web, and they've been trying to do everything possible to take all the versions down. The video was apparently shot and leaked by one of the first responders to the horrific plane crash that took la Diva de la Banda's life last Sunday morning. According to TMZ, the graphic video shows mangled body parts including a severed foot with painted toenails. Jenni was the only woman on board.
Government officials have revealed that two Mexican cops have already been arrested for allegedly stealing things from the crash site and one of them was apparently responsible for leaking the photographs.Continue Reading >
Just two weeks ago, we lost one of our great legends, boxer Hector Macho Camacho. But this past weekend, our hearts broke as we heard the news that Jenni Rivera, La Diva de La Banda, died tragically as the small plane she was on crashed in the mountains of Mexico. Most women wouldn't want to be associated with an extra-marital affairs dating site. So you can imagine the fury Spanish Queen, Sofia, experienced when she saw her picture was being used by the cheating dating site Ashley Madison without her permission. Queen Sofia is suing the website for damaging her name by posting a picture of herself hugging a half naked man alongside the slogan: "Now you no longer have to spend the night alone."
The worst part is that the image was also published in a local newspaper which made the Queen even more furious--and convinced her to proceed with the lawsuit.Continue Reading >
Just when the Secret Service thought we had all forgotten about their little indiscretion, the Colombian woman behind the now infamous sex scandal is writing a memoir revealing her past and what happened the night she met the members of the U.S. military and Secret Service agents. If you recall correctly, Dania Suarez got a number of U.S. personnel in trouble after they received services from her when visiting Colombia in April and an agent tried swindling her by paying less than he originally promised.
Now Suarez is penning the memoir, tentatively titled Room Service, in which she will speak about her troubled childhood, being sexually assaulted by a former boss, how she became a prostitute, and of course that infamous night.
The most buzzed about speech of tonight's Democratic National Convention opener has GOT to be San Antonio, Texas Mayor Julian Castro's. As the first EVER Latino keynote speaker, Castro has a lot riding on this speech and I have to say--I don't think they could've picked a better man for the job.
Mayor Julian Castro is about as close to a Latino Obama as we can get, and I'm not exaggerating here. He is the Democratic party's rising star and they have made an incredibly wise decision in bestowing upon him the honor that so many other notable men and women have held before (President Barack Obama himself, as well as incredibly influential TX Rep. Barbara Jordan come to mind). Most importantly, his story is one that many Latinos can identify with and believe in. You see, it all started with Castro's mom...
CNN host Soledad O'Brien is one Latina you definitely don't want to mess with! Former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty learned that the hard way when O'Brien put him in his place after he rudely implied that the anchorwoman doesn't understand English. Ugh!
For the first time since the controversial Trayvon Martin case caused a national firestorm, George Zimmerman, the shooter at the center of it all, sat down for a television interview to tell his side of the story.Continue Reading >
George Zimmerman's case has had some shocking twists recently. First, the former neighborhood watch volunteer, who is facing charges for shooting 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, asked for a new judge on Friday after claiming his current one is biased. And now, newly released evidence includes a police interview with a woman identified as Witness #9 who accuses Zimmerman of sexually abusing her as a child.
Happy birthday to the one of the most inspiring Latinas in the world, Sonia Sotomayor! The Puerto Rican Supreme Court justice is turning 54 today and with all of the amazing accomplishments she's made throughout her wildly successful career, she has plenty of reasons to celebrate.
And here at MamásLatinas, we're also paying homage to the occasion! In honor of Sotomayor and all she's done for the Latino community, we've rounded up 5 of her best moments that perfectly demonstrate why we love her!Continue Reading >
Just when I thought the Trayvon Martin case couldn't possibly get any more complicated, new occurrences have caused more twists in the already tumultuous situation. In the past few hours alone, news broke that the Sanford police chief originally in charge of the case has been fired and that a new video of George Zimmerman's interview with authorities the day after the shooting has been released.Continue Reading >
