6-month-old baby shot multiple times while getting her diaper changed

A 6-month-old girl was killed and her father left in serious condition after they were shot while sitting in a car outside their Chicago home on Monday.

Jonathan Watkins was changing his baby's diaper when the shooter approached the car from an alley and opened fire, hitting both the 25-year-old dad and the baby multiple times. This is so unbelievably heartbreaking.

The baby, identified as Johnylah Watskins, was shot in the right shoulder and left thigh and was undergoing surgery at a local hospital, but did not survive. Her dad was hit in the cheek, leg, and behind and was also rushed to a nearby medical center. Meanwhile, authorities are still looking for the gunman, who reportedly fled the scene in a blue van.

Police have since revealed that Watkins was a member of the Gangster Disciples street gang, though relatives of the father and child deny these claims. However, family members did reveal that this is the second shooting the family has endured in a matter of months. Johnylahs mother, 21-year-old Judy Watkins, was also shot while she was pregnant with the child.

What a tragedy! At only 6 months old, she was a victim of two shootings--one which happened before she was even born. And now this poor, innocent baby has lost her life, due to yet another senseless act of violence.

Regardless of her father's past, this child didn't deserve any harm and I can't believe anyone would be so cruel as to fatally injure a 6-month-old baby. My heart goes out to the child's  loved ones, who now have to live with the loss for the rest of their lives.
