Doctors freeze baby boy for FOUR days & save him from fatal disease

Having a sick child is heartbreaking for any parent, which is exactly why I was amazed to hear of U.K. mom, Claire Ives, who went through an unbelievable ordeal after her baby was diagnosed with a fatal heart condition.

Edward Ives was born with supra ventricular tachycardia, a disease that causes his heart to race at more than 300 beats per minute. He had only five percent chance of survival so doctors decided to take drastic measures in order save his life. In what is being called a miraculous treatment, doctors froze little Edward's body for four whole days to slow his metabolism and prevent damage to his vital organs.

Yes, I said froze. Can you believe that?!

Doctors wrapped the little boy, who was wearing nothing but a diaper, in a blanket of cold gel and dropped his temperatures down to 33.3 degrees Celsius. And as if that wasn't extreme enough, doctors also shocked the baby with a defibrillator five times throughout his treatment in order to slow his heart rate.

Oh my god! I can't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for his poor mom to witness this. It's bad enough to have your child have a serious illness, but to then be forced to watch him lie in a freezing cold blanket and get shocked? That would be a nightmare for any parent.

Claire revealed how difficult the experience was for her, saying, "All I wanted to do was scoop him up and give him a warm cuddle. I just had to keep reminding myself that it was saving his life."

Thankfully, all that torment became worth it in the end. Edward's heart slowly began returning to more normal levels and a month after the treatment, his parents were able to take him home. What a miracle! After all they've been through, I hope they can now just enjoy this time together as a family.
