9-year-old who gave birth in Mexico is actually 12 & a victim of her own stepfather

Mexican state officials have just released more details about the case of the supposedly 9-year-old girl who gave birth to a child two weeks ago--and the truth is even worse than we thought. Authorities have not only confirmed that the girl is actually 12 or 13 years old, but also that her 44-year-old stepfather is the father of the child and not a teenage boyfriend as previously reported.

Though there had already been much speculation over the girl's real age, now officials are saying that her mother also lied when she claimed her daughter's 17-year-old boyfriend impregnated her. After conducting a DNA test, they revealed the real identity of the baby's father to be the girl's own stepfather. 

No arrests or charges have been made as the girl is reportedly still insisting her boyfriend is the father. Unfortunately, authorities are still looking for the 17-year-old, who hasn't been seen since news of the scandal broke.

A spokesperson for the Jalisco Prosecutor's office said that, in the case that her boyfriend did make the underage girlfriend pregnant, he could be jailed up to seven years. The stepfather would be tried as an adult and could face a sentencing of 12 to 20 years.

What a terrible situation. She might not be 9, but she's still a minor and certainly extremely young to be a mother. Her age doesn't change the fact that she's a victim of rape ... potentially by her own stepfather! It's just sickening. It would be bad enough for her to have given birth by a 17-year-old ... but to think that a 44-year-old family member is the one abusing her? The ordeal is just too horrible for words.

My heart truly goes out to this young girl and her baby. I hope they find a way to safely separate themselves from their toxic family and find a life of their own.
