Preschool closed amidst disturbing allegations of sexual activity between 4 & 5-year-olds!

There are some things that young kids definitely should not be aware of. That's why I was completely shocked to hear that a California preschool is reportedly shutting down after several of its 4 to 5-year-old students allegedly engaged in sexual activity!  

What?! Preschoolers?  That is beyond disturbing.

The First Luther Church of Carson School is closing mid-semester amidst reports that two young boys received oral sex from a 5-year-old girl while on school grounds. And not just once! Richard McCarthy, one of the boy's fathers, says his son told him the sexual activity had happened multiple times in various places throughout the school, including in the classroom, on the playground and even in an outside bathroom.

That is just horrifying. How do kids this young even know what oral sex is?! And how is it possible that this happened at school where there are supposed to be adults watching them at all times?

Several parents are now planning to file a lawsuit against the school. "It all boils down to a lack of supervision," Greg Owen, the attorney representing them, told ABC News. "During nap time, the aides would be sleeping, and the children would have been molesting each other during this time."

I can't believe that anyone would be so irresponsible as to leave a bunch of little kids completely unattended. Whether it was during naptime or not isn't the point--it's these people's jobs to watch their students throughout the entire day.  

But though the school is largely to blame, I also can't help but think that the parents are probably also part of the problem. After all, these kids would have to learn about this from somewhere and it's very possible that they picked it up at home.

Whatever the case may be, parents AND teachers alike should always be staying vigilant as to what their children are seeing, hearing, and doing. It's sad that these three kids, who are still basically babies, have been exposed to behavior way beyond their maturity level and essentially lost the innocence of their childhood, all because they weren't being properly taken care of by the adults around them.
