North Korean parents resort to eating children in horrifying reports of secret famine

In an absolutely horrifying story, a starving North Korea man has allegedly been executed after murdering and eating his two children. The disturbing case is just one of multiple reports claiming that parts of North Korea are experiencing a secret famine and that residents have started resorting to cannibalism as a means of surviving.

As first reported by Asia Press, more than 10,000 people have reportedly died in farming provinces of North and South Hwanghae from a food shortage that is apparently being kept hidden from the rest of the world.  Some of these deaths have allegedly included children, who sources say are being killed by their own family members for food.

One resident of South Hwanghae told the news agency that in May, a man was executed by a firing squad after killing and trying to eat his two children. "While his wife was away on business he killed his eldest daughter and, because his son saw what he had done, he killed his son as well," the informant said. "When the wife came home, he offered her food, saying: 'We have meat.'"

His wife immediately became suspicious and notified the Ministry of Public Security, who later uncovered part of the children's bodies. North Korea has not denied or confirmed these reports of deaths or of famine spawning cannibalism.

Ugh, have you ever heard of anything more disturbing?! I know that extreme hunger can drive people to do crazy things, but I still can't imagine how a parent could kill and eat their own kids. Or anyone else, for that matter! Wouldn't you want to protect your children from suffering?

If these horrible reports are true, it's clear these people have reached a level of desperation that is beyond anyone's comprehension. I can only pray that they'll somehow find help and that action will be taken to aid these poor, innocent people and children who don't deserve to lose their lives.
