When it comes to weight loss, there's no doubt about it that it takes a lot of self control coupled with a ton of great tips and ideas on just how to do it right. That's pretty much the whole point of our 31 Days of Latinas Losing Weight challenge.
I admit that no tip is really more important than the other. You need a variety of advice in order to make sure to eat healthy and exercise more, the two key successes to losing the weight and keeping it off. Today's tip, though, Tip #23, is definitely one of the most important. In fact, without fulfulling this tip, you definitely don't have a chance to make yourself your best self.

The way to ensure your life-long weight loss maintenance success is to always (and I do mean ALWAYS) make sure to keep a well-stocked refrigerator and pantry of healthy ingredients that you can easily cook at home in order to make great, healthy meals and, most of all, avoid fast food.
Just as I recommended with healthy snacking (you know, you should ALWAYS keep some around for yourself), I think it's really important to always keep some basics on hand. For me, this means starting out with plenty of negative-calorie foods and, if it's in season, TONS of watermelon since I love it and supposedly it's good for your diet.

For my pantry, I always like to keep bags of dried beans (or cans, if you prefer them), quinoa, and brown rice. In my fridge, I typically keep some greens, a couple of citrus fruits, some kind of berry and tomatoes (because I love them so much). I also typically keep some frozen broccoli and green beans, since they're also easy additions to any meal.
The reason why I always make sure to keep my fridge and pantry stocked with these goodies is because I find it SO easy to make a last-minute meal that everyone will enjoy. Typically all I need is a quinoa salad (I throw in beans and some veggies, and then I'm done!) or I make a dish that has about 1/2 cup of brown rice, a cup of beans and about 2 cups of veggies, whatever that mix may be. This is an easy and healthy way to make sure that you always have something on hand so that ordering in (which I find typically leads to REALLY unhealthy choices) is never the best option.
So, don't forget to go grocery shopping and, as always, tune in for Tip #24 tomorrow!
