When you start a family, changing your living space is inevitable. It's not that you have to go overboard with making over your entire house but I think a couple key changes here and there are good for the whole family. A great place to start is with the room the family spends most of their time in, the living room. With just a few quick changes you can redecorate the living room to make it more kid-friendly and make the whole family fall in love with it all over again.
Now that winter's over, I've been going through my closets and getting rid of stuff. It's all part of my usual Spring Cleaning routine: I clean the house with some of my abuela's best deep cleaning tips and even spring clean my beauty products. Then, as I was going through some of my winter clothes, I came across a bunch of scarves that I never really wear anymore.
Not wanting to throw out the pretty ones that I used to own but no longer match my coats, I looked around to figure out what I could actually do with them. And that's when I found the best idea ever! Making an absolutely fabulous super-easy pillow out of old scarves. Why not, right? This do-it-yourself project is absolutely perfect for the weekend and I can't wait to show off my new pillows.Continue Reading >
Spring is a time for renewal and there's no better way to renew yourself than by sprucing up your surroundings. Although I love fuschia accessories and floral decorations for the home this Spring, there's no hotter color trend this year than tangerine.
Absolutely everything looks great in tangerine. I love this color in clothing and makeup, I won't lie, but it looks even better as a pillow spread out on my espresso-colored couch. Whatever you're looking for, tangerine home accessories are something to truly love right now.Continue Reading >
I'm a perpetual hair-color changer. I don't know why, but I've always loved dying my hair all sorts of different shades. I've gone from dark brown to red to chocolate brown to highlights and back again. What does this have to do with home redecorating exactly? Well, one of the main reasons I love coloring my hair is that I once heard the phrase "the easiest way to change your wardrobe is to change your hair color". And it's so true! Going from brown to red is dramatic and it makes everything I wear look different. That favorite green dress has a different effect depending on my hair color. Well, the absolute same can go for your home! If you want to throw out all of your furniture and redecorate the house, here's a tip: save money by repainting all of your walls instead. It's the quickest way to freshen up every room in the house.

I really enjoy decorating the house. It's a trait that I learned from my mother that has now spiraled into daily stalking of some of my favorite home blogs. One of the things that inspires my decorating efforts the most is color.
I love color so much that I'm even using a new color palette app. But recently I fell in love with one blogger's use of orange accents in her kid's room, so I decided to look around for some of my own accents to spice things up. These orange and white bedroom accessories are perfect for any kid--whether they're young or older--and a lot can even work out for a grown ups too!Continue Reading >
I've never been handy with a sewing machine, but I have dreams of learning to make my own dresses. After a friend suggested that I start off by making a pillow (since it's one of the easier do-it-yourself crafts to tackle), I looked around to find some easy instructions.
What I found on Jezebel.com was even better, though. Their step-by-step guide to making your own throw pillows (and updating your home look in the process) are easy to navigate. I'm already planning to make my first batch soon, preferably in a bright red color to match my living room décor. The nice thing about this project is that it's so easy, you can get addicted to making different ones for each season! Why not start now?Continue Reading >
