Natilla is a delicious custard that's typically served around the holidays. That's why I'm featuring it as today's recipe for our 12 Days of Christmas series. The beauty of natilla, I think, is that it can bring many people together. There are traditional recipes from all over, including from the Catalan region of Spain (where it was known as Crema Catalana) and Cuba. Today's version of the creamy dessert, though, comes to us from Colombia--where it's made a little differently (it solidifies as it cools) and is served with buñuelos.

I have to say: the thing I really love about this Colombian natilla is the fact that you can eat it almost like a cookie. And, well, of course pairing it with buñuelos doesn't hurt either! The deep-fried cheese fritters are actually the perfect salty dessert to add to the sweetness of the milk, sugar, and cinnamon mixture that makes natilla so delicious. I know I'll definitely be serving this one to my whole family! The recipe isn't even that complicated, to be honest, and I would be quite honored because I know that my friends and family will really appreciate this one. I mean, is there a better way to spend time with family than with food and especially a delicious dessert after dinner? Nope, I think not. Serve this today!
