Tonight's episode of "Modern Family" was hilarious as it proved how men and women misread each others signs. Cameron and Mitchell reunite with a friend from their single years named Sally played by Elizabeth Banks and she has big engagement news for them. The "reformed" party girl tells them she's met the man of her dreams and wants them to be her best men.
Meanwhile, Claire is adjusting to the idea that Hayley may be maturing and is willing to see her as a friend. Luke shows that he is growing up as he struggles with the idea of asking out a girl he likes. Of course, Phil saves the day and gives Luke some tips on picking up the ladies...
My favorite storyline in this week's episode was probably the Manny's growing love of art. Gloria is going through the mommy phase where they don't trust anyone but themselves with their baby and has a hard time dealing with their new nanny, Dalia. The other problem is she has been a bit too open with her breastfeeding causing Jay discomfort from the attention men have given her. As it turns out, the exposure to Gloria's assets may have influenced Manny's controversial art projects in school. Jay and Gloria find out from Manny's teacher that he had been drawing and sculpting detailed images of the female body and they fear that it may have something to do with Gloria's sudden openness. Little do they know it has nothing to do with her and everything to do with Dalia.
After Phil helps Luke ask out his crush, Simone on a date, it seems her own mother can't resist Phil's advances--or so he thinks. Claire, unaware of Luke's date, meanwhile is out bonding with Hayley over dinner and convinced that her teenage angsty daughter is turning a new leaf.
In the Pritchett household, Jay and Gloria finally realize that Manny has a crush on their nanny and try to stop him before he makes a move on her. But it was too late as he already had set up a candlelit pizza dinner for two and had written her a poem confessing his love for her. Thankfully Dalia turns him down nicely which relieves Gloria and Jay.
Cameron and Mitchell meanwhile are hanging out with Sally before her quickie wedding and happen to freak her out hours before she's set to walk the aisle. They remind her that marriage is an eternal commitment which causes her to have a panic attack and to make out with the bartender. Love proves funny as she confesses to her husband-to-be at the altar what she did and ironically he admit to having made out with a stripper the night before.
Hayley and Claire start realizing they are a lot more similar than they thought as they run into Alex playing in a band who appears embarrassed by them when they approach her. It's funny to see how the once angsty teen and her mom have bonded and grown together during her post-high school phase.
I love how the adults always manage to be there for their kids no matter how crazy the mishap *cough* Manny *cough* Luke. I can't wait to see how Hayley and Claire's relationship progresses and how Alex starts growing up now that she's begun to explore territory outside of her schoolwork.
